From 29 March 2019 the Brexit is a fact. Which exact consequences this will have for the import and export of goods is unfortunately not yet foreseeable, but we do know that it will have a major impact.
At the moment there is no deal between the UK and the EU.
Update: 16/01/19: A number of British parliamentarians are working on a motion to delay the Article 50 procedure for withdrawal from the EU. May government ministers have made this known to business leaders.
The Brexit deal of Prime Minister Theresa May was rejected by a large majority on Tuesday evening 15 January by the Lower House delegates. This gave some cabinet members, in consultation with leading businessmen, the idea of trying to postpone the date of the Brexit. The fixed date is 29 March 2019.
Every company that imports or exports goods for which documents are required must have an EORI number that belongs to all customs declarations. Applying for such a number is free of charge and easy to request via your local government. Appointing a company for your customs duties does not mean that you do not need an EORI number. Visit the European Commission's dedicated website for more information.
At Mainfreight Forwarding we have a customs department that can answer questions or provide information. Please contact us via e-mail address:
